Getting there: Lady Rose Ferry - Port Alberni to Bamfield - pg. 1
In
September 1999 two young ladies from Muenster Germany, Sylvia Daniels and
Christiane Saake, traveled to Canada's rugged and beautiful west coast on
Vancouver Island, British Columbia. On a vacation of adventure and exploration
along the world famous West Coast Trail they kept a photo journal of their 10
day trip. It was our very good fortune to meet Sylvia and Christiane when they
stayed at Birds of a Feather B&B at the end of their trip. Now, here for all to
enjoy, are some excellent photos of their trip. Thank you Christiane and Sylvia
for sharing these photos with everyone.
There
are several different points of entry of the West Coast Trail and also numerous
ways to get there. Christiane and Sylvia took the
West Coast Trail Express Bus from Victoria to Port Alberni and then took passage
with "M.V. Lady Rose / M.V. Frances Barkley"
passenger / cargo ferries between Port Alberni and the west coast community of
Bamfield. This ferry service does not take motor vehicles but will carry a
bicycle with an advanced reservation. Service to Bamfield is seasonal, from
early June to mid September. For information about this ferry, contact:
Alberni Marine Transportation Ltd.
P. O. Box 188, Port Alberni, BC V9Y 7M7

in Bamfield is at McKay Lodge
